Maya Indian Missions strives to build and strengthen the communities we serve, the pueblos outside of Merida. In addition to our education programs for the youth, we work to build and lift up their families and the communities in which they live.
Community Building takes many forms. Our Friends of Sr. Terry groups help meet the basic needs of people who are struggling and in most need, honoring the legacy and service of Sr. Terry Maksym.
We come together to celebrate special occasions, celebrate our faith, and celebrate each other. At times this includes bringing people together across multiple villages and even the big city, something which otherwise doesn’t often happen.
We have Women’s Groups and other programs for the adults, including both educational programs and supportive discussions.
Fr. Bill serves the often forgotten people at Oasis de San Juan, an AIDS hospice in one of the remote villages.
